CONCERTS
|
Towards the completion of his music exams, Nathanael began performing occasionally in concerts, ranging from living room soirees and small local halls to appearances in larger theatres and concert halls throughout New Zealand, and a special-guest performance in the Sydney Town Hall, Australia, in 2001. |
"I think the Sydney concerts for me as a guest performer were the biggest highlight - I was somewhat nervous and had been unwell during the previous week with a flu and sore back. The morning show was almost full - maybe 2,500 people or so in attendance. No sooner had they left, when the afternoon's audience was arriving, and before long it was back onstage to do it over again. The piano was fabulous - a very large Fazioli grand."

In the late 90's Nathanael recorded the first of his six easy-listening piano albums, and the promotion process of these recordings introduced him to a whole new audience of music-lovers, including the 'retired' soprano Noela Blackburn (left). The 'Nathanael & Friends' music club was formed and monthly concerts were given in Christchurch halls and RSA's, and culminated with three performances in the Christchurch Town Hall's James Hay Theatre.
